For once a book that screams sequel and yet there appears to be no sequel in sight.

I loves stories with smart, strong, resourceful girls who aren't waiting for Prince Charming to come and rescue them.

Thirteen year old herbal apprentice Reveka wants to find out why 12 princesses spend each night dancing to the point of exhaustion, if she can break this curse she can earn a fabulous reward from the Prince. She needs the money to buy her way into a nunnery where she can have her own herbary. In the 15th century I think that's the route I'd choose too. I imagine the nuns were probably slightly better off (and didn't have to go through the dangers of childbirth)
